University Labs Set Aflame:
Mr. Madness Again to Blame?
While no one got a clear view of the suspect, the recent arson seems to point to Mr. Madness once more.
Classes had just resumed at the UNO when several "bomb-like" explosions rocked the building, mainly from the chemistry lab. The resulting fire quickly spread throughout campus, into the biology lab and into several other labs (all for various classes). The campus was evacuated by the times fire crews arrived to douse the flames.
The damage is estimated at about $5 million for equipment, the building and other costs. The fire did not spread too far beyond the labs, but in the case of the labs, must be rebuilt. Biohazard crews were sent in to deal with the wreckage and waste once the fire has been doused.
Several students were taken to hospital for burns, smoke inhalation, shrapnel wounds from the initial blast or shock. A professor is also injured. Thankfully, no wounds are life-threatening.
