Tuesday, July 6th Blackout Blacks Out Waiter In Brazen Attack
The fourth of a string of attacks by a man now dubbed "Mr. Madness" or sometimes "Mr. Maniac" by students at the UNO is leaving investigators confused and worried about the brazenness of recent attacks.
The 'attack' started at around 7 last night with a man entering the back of the restaurant. Unnoticed among others (the restaurant was receiving a shipment at the time), the suspect headed for the utility room. After picking the lock or finding said door unlocked, he entered and cast the restaurant and a neighbouring building into darkness by destroying the circuit box.
In the commotion, the suspect found University of New Orleans freshman, and Antoine's waiter, Neo Blackwell. Police said he was assaulted with a blunt instrument, likely a moderately sized block of wood near the back of the restaurant and then apparently injured with his own flashlight, which he admits "dropping in the scuffle". Blackwell suffered minor cuts from a fall and bruises from the beating, but police state that "Blackwell got off very lucky considering the attack that took place on the 30th". After breaking free of the suspect, "Mr. Madness" the the flashlight back at Blackwell, hitting him in the head and causing him to pass out. He then fled and once again eluded capture by police or civilians, despite the crowded restaurant and area surrounding.
The incidents of Valdez, the professor (who asked not to be named) and Clark are believed to be related.
Police issues a warning to all UNO students, stating that whoever this man is, he is clearly targeting anyone related to the university. Police also advise that no one attempt to approach or apprehend the suspect. They believe this man may be a serial killer, but due to either crowded venues or chance, has been unable to make a kill.
If you have seen or heard anything related to any incident relating to these attacks, or believe you can identify or know the whereabouts of the suspect, please call the anonymous tip line at 520-835-TIPS. If the suspect is sighted by you personally, please call 9-1-1.
