PERSONALITY:QUIET - starting out as a sick child served to form a lot of Austin's personality traits. When he was having issues his mother always insisted on quiet and he'd always found that very soothing. That led him to be that way. At the same time, unlike Dallas, he never needed to be loud to get the attention he required. That was something that was never necessary. To this day he is a quiet soul with a soft-spoken, gentle voice.
SELF-CONSCIOUS - this trait started partly because people were always so careful with him as a child and partly because he mother was a bit over-excitable about people staring at the scar on his chest. Austin soon learned from her behavior that it was wrong to show his imperfection. During the sweltering summers when Dallas was running out without a shirt on, Austin had to be sure his chest was covered. As a result he grew very self-conscious about showing his scar. Only with Delilah is he comfortable being shirtless and it's taken years to reach that point.
LOVING - Austin is a very affectionate person. He makes it very clear to his friends and most of his family that he loves them. And hugs and kisses his mother every time he sees her and also hugs his father. He enjoys showing his affection to those he cares about but he's not one of extreme public displays. Holding hands with Delilah or having his arm around her, even an occasional soft kiss is all acceptable but he would never say make out in public. He much prefers to keep private things private.
HELPFUL - this is something he has always loved to do, help people. He's always willing to offer assistance to friends and strangers alike. Austin is the sort who would do everything he possibly could to help someone out. This isn't just limited to the human species either. He's been known to take in stray, sick animals and try to help them, as well. If there's anything you need you pretty much just need to ask and if he can he'll help. And if he can't then he'll feel guilty about that.
JEALOUS - because of his health issues, Austin always felt like he was being held back while Dallas was allowed to go off and do all sorts of things with all sorts of people. That left him feeling unworthy of anyone's time and effort and harbored deep feelings of jealousy toward his brother. He always envied how easily Dallas made friends and was included in things while he always felt like a bother.
INTROVERTED - with such an outgoing twin it's not really all that much of surprise that this guy was just the opposite. By the time he was healthy enough to do things with his twin he was always known as Dallas' brother. Never having an identity of his own basically caused him to withdraw. Continually pulling back because an inescapable pattern that led to Austin becoming more and more introverted. This has somewhat corrected itself over the years he's been with Delilah, though it still takes a while for new people to get his past his shields.
GIVING - going along with his helpful nature, Austin is very giving. He has a hard time walking past a beggar on the street without offering them something. Generally that something is a good meal or a hot cup of coffee. He has also been known to give away his gloves, scarf, even coat to someone less fortunate if the opportunity presents itself. Austin's friends also reap the benefits of his generous nature in a good number of ways.
GENTLE - because his parents were always so gentle with him, and they made certain that everyone else was, too, it's no wonder that Austin is such gentle soul. He has always been kind and gracious. Nine times out of ten if you asked someone to describe him the word "gentleman" would be included in the description. He is very gentle in all of his dealings, using soft words and light persuasion to calm a tense situation or soothe anyone who might be upset.
CREATIVE - having had a lot of free time when he was younger, being unable to get out and play with Dallas and the neighborhood kids, Austin had to find other ways to entertain himself. This started with mindless doodling or writing short stories about things that he wished he could do. Later it turned to poetry and drawing. He also continued with his writing and has had a collection of children's stories published under a pseudonym.
ROMANTIC - Austin loves romance in every form, for old romantic movies to quiet candlelight dinners. At least once every ten days or so he will surprise Delilah with some sweet, romantic gesture. He enjoys planning such events and puts a lot of thought into each one, using his creativity to make it a unique experience in at least some small way.

MOTHER: Sara Anne Xavier-Rico, 42, waitress
FATHER: Richard James Rico, 43, salesman
SIBLINGS: Dallas Dakota Rico, 24,bummusician
OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE: Delilah Adina BéBinn, 22, student/daycare provider, girlfriend
ORIGIN: New Orleans, Louisiana
HISTORY:The twins were born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Sara Anne and Rick Rico. The pair had been high school sweethearts since she was a freshmen, he being a year older. With a lot of hard work, and despite spending all of their off-school hours together, Sara had managed to graduate with Rick's class because he parents had agreed to allow them to get married once both graduated. She was barely eighteen when they tied the knot but they were certain it was what they wanted, to be married and have a family. Little did they know that their family was on the horizon. During their honeymoon trip to through Texas, somewhere between Austin and Dallas, to Sara's best calculations, the twins were conceived.
Wanting to be prepared for whatever came, the couple picked both boy and girls names, first one set and later two when they were informed the blessed event would involve twins. Not wanting to think of four complete names they settled on a boy and a girl name for each child. If the babies were girls, the girl name would be first and visa versa if they babies were boys. The couple, despite their tender age, looked very much forward to the arrival of the first additions to their family. They would soon discover that they would get more than they bargained for.
Their second born son, Austin Ashley, was the opposite of his brother, who was loud and clearly very healthy. He was small, listless and quiet. The doctors were immediately concerned for his chances of survival. Austin was instantly swept away from his young mother for urgent care. It was two days before Sara would even be able to hold her second born son, a difficult two days for all involved. Even then there were less than favorable odds that he would survive. While Austin fought like a little trooper, his parents clung tightly to his twin. After a couple days the young family went home without Austin. It would be another few weeks in Intensive Care before he would be released to join his family.
Though he got to go home, he was still somewhat weak and fragile. His parents and grandparents saw that he got the best possible care and soon he began to grow stronger. Within six months though Austin was back in the hospital. Doctors had discovered a small defect in his heart, which required surgery to repair. The operation went well but it would be a long and difficult road to recovery. It took years for him to fully build his strength. During that time Dallas had been out making a ton of friends and once Austin was able to go along he wasn't really included. That was mostly because Dallas made certain that his friends excluded him. Whenever Austin wanted to try something, Dallas would tell him that he couldn't because he might get hurt or that he wasn't strong enough.
Eventually Austin stopped trying and just stayed at home when Dallas went out to play with his friends. It was during this time that he developed a joy of reading and also started writing short stories, basically narratives on the things that he wanted to do. This slowly branched into more fantastical stories. Austin also began to doodle. These skills developed over time into quite the talents. It was living within his writing that got him through his childhood years. Once he started high school he was finally able to make his own friends, falling in with a very different crowd than his brother. Dallas ran with the wild set while Austin enjoyed the more sedate and scholarly students. He always befriended those his twin liked to belittle.
His health remained an issue through much of his school years. Things seems to get better in his junior year when he met the most amazing girl, Delilah BéBinn. She was an incoming freshman and it was affection at first sight. Austin literally bumped into her the first day of school and they instantly became friends. By the time the first school dance rolled around they were an official couple. They also spent a great deal of time together outside of school since Delilah was somewhat new to New Orleans. Austin enjoyed introducing her to his favorite parts of the city. He very quickly grew to love her and that affection seemed to do wonders for his heart. The health issues that had continued to plague him since birth settled, allowing him to do more than he ever had before.
Though he received the offer of several prestigious scholarships due his is exceptional academic achievements, Austin decided to attend the University of New Orleans so he could stay close to Delilah. They are currently living with long-time girlfriend, Delilah, and plans to ask her to marry him very soon. His love of reading and writing lead to his career as a librarian. Putting his writing and artist talent to good use, Austin recently had a small book of children's stories published, a book that he also illustrated. This information isn't widely known as he used a pseudonym for a number of reasons. He plans to use the royalties for an extravagant honeymoon and the down payment on a dream house once he and Delilah are married.

________________________________________________It never seemed to fail that everything went to hell whenever Jay was anxious for something. Of course that could have been because he didn't generally get too excited about stuff. This wasn't exactly a general situation; this was hopefully the first step in winning Megara back. Had he not been distracted all day waiting for eight o'clock to roll around, he might have noticed that things were running low and gotten stuff restocked before his shift was over. Instead he'd spent the day in a daze, going over music and lyrics in his head, thinking about all of the things that he needed to tell Meg. Jay was so ashamed of so much of his past. He knew there was so much that he had to make up for if he was going to have any chance of getting her back.
Now his distraction had cost him an extra amount of time. It was still a few minutes before he'd asked her to join him, but then Megara had always been very prompt. Still Jay didn't have much choice but to finish up his duties as quickly as he could. With one last look at the still empty booth and then around the club he headed into the back. There was a rather large list of things that he had to replenish and it was going to take multiple trips to get it all. Under normal circumstances he would have charmed some help out of one of his co-workers but for now he was focused on getting it done and didn't want to take the time to ask for help. Then again, those most likely to help him were the females and the last thing he needed was for Meg to arrive and see him coming out of the back with a woman. Instead he put his head down and worked as quickly as he could. Finishing his first trip he headed straight back to get the rest of what he'd already gathered together. It wasn't until he came out of the back the second time that he glanced around the club to see if he could spy Meg.
The booth was momentarily blocked from his vantage point so he looked over the rest of the place. He didn't see any sign of her and started to worry that maybe she had decided not to come after all. Jay sincerely hoped that wasn't the case. What was he going to do if Meg didn't come? Feeling more nervous now than he had all day long he shifted his gaze back to the booth he had reserved just in time to see Meg sliding onto the seat. As soon as his eyes focused on her one eyebrow shot up sharply. He drew a deep breath and his mouth opened, or rather his jaw dropped. Megara had never looked better. Well, maybe not better than the other night when she visited his place, but that didn't really count. Well, it counted but it wasn't something he figured he should remind her of just yet. Jay's excitement level increased a great deal as his gaze moved slowly over her. At the same time his anxiety shot up, as well.
After a moment of looking at Meg he turned his attention back to finishing things up. As he replaced bottles behind the bar Jay caught his reflection in the mirrored backdrop. Suddenly he regretted not paying more attention to his appearance. He hadn't shaved in a couple of days, which wasn't that big a deal. At least the scruff was neat. That was more than he could say about his hair in that moment. Before work he'd pulled the longer top portion back into a small pony. For the most part it was still intact, only a few waving strands had come loose from the very front, trailing down into his face. Until he'd seen his reflection in the mirror he hadn't even noticed the curved tendrils though they basically fell right between his eyes. That was just another example of how distracted he'd been. Jay would have liked to fix that but it was already a few minutes after eight and Megara was waiting. Quickly finishing up his task he nodded to his replacement, turning the bar duties over to her before grabbing a glass of ice water for himself and a soda for her.
Jay took a deep breath as he made his way around the end of the bar and headed for the table where she waited. There was no question in his mind that he'd never been more nervous about anything in his life. It was no surprise really since everything was riding on the outcome of this encounter. All of his hopes were pinned on parting at the end of the night knowing that it wasn't over, that there was still a chance for him to make things up to Meg, to make her see what he was never able to show her before. Releasing a shaky exhale he licked his lips and closed the distance to the booth. "Hey," he greeted gently, just loud enough to be heard over the dull buzz of people in the club. Jay sat the soda down in front of her then shifted around to slide into the rounded seat across the table from her. He really wanted to just scoot in close beside her, to wrap his arm around her like he had always done when they were together but he managed to refrain. The last thing he wanted was to go too far and make her leave. "Thanks for coming, I really appreciate it." After a short pause he gestured to the untouched glass in front of her with a small smile. "Cherry Coke," he informed her, hoping that her favorite hadn't changed in the time they'd been apart.I wanna hold you 'til this fear in me subsides
